Unfortunately, I work evenings and I wil! not be able to attend the meeting scheduled for
March 7, 2007 regarding the proposal for the apartment compiex on Woodside and Hogan. I have
however, spoken to many people in our community(inciuding residents of bo#h the Hampton
Oaks and the Kentfield Commons). I am the next door neighbar of Fran and Bryant Free and i
know the Fran has worked endlessly to secure the well being, best interest and safety of these
neighboring cammunities. I have had many conversations with Fran regarding this roject and I
must say that I am unequivocally staunch supporter of bath Fran's efforts as well as her positian
on this matter,
As a resident of this community for nearly eleven years both my wife and I share the same
position regarding this matter. We feel that it has not been thought out in terms of the well being
and general safety of these communities. As the proposal sfands, it appears that the cfeveloper is
trying to expedite this project a#the expense to the well being of these communi#ies. Ali
af#ernatives have not been explored and at this junc ture, and they need be. Aside from the
obviaus concerns of height and density, this project, as it stands brings with it grave concerns
regarding traffic and safety issues for both fhe Hampton Oaks and Kentfield communities.
The issue of ingress and egress is of paramoun#concern.Allowing additional traffic to flow into
these quiet, well kEpt,family oriented communitis would not only be a major mistake, bu±if
would change the integrity of these communities, not to mention the safety and well being as well.
I strongly urge the planning comrnittee to rethink this project, so that the interests and well being
of these communi#ies are taken into consideration.
Very truly yours,
Robert Patane
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------°----------_______-_-__
Dear Sir/Madam:
I am a longtime residen#of the area near the proposed condominiums at 885 Woodside Road,
and I would like to submit the following comments for your consideration. My wife and i moved
into a home in the Horgan Ranch Eichler development along Atherwood Avenue in 1976, and
lived there for 29 years until moving inta a condominium in Park Atherton Lake, 2 years ago.
In the past few weeks we have received severaC unsigned notices calling the neighborhood to
actian to block this proposed developmenE. We find these a#tempts to be alarmist and self-
serving, an after sme investigation we ean frd ro;ustifiction to block:his de✓elopme^t. !
have read yaur staff report and looked at the shade and traific studies. Whike shadowing is a
legitimate concern for a few houses in Hempton Oaks, the main complaint of the neighborhood
activists appears to be traffic. As longtime residents who daily wafk our dog past the proposed
site, 1 am confident that these new condominiums will not add significantly to existing traffic.
A quick survey of the neighborhood indicates that there are approximateEy 510 residences in the
combined areas of Kentfield Commons (151), Hampton Oaks (123), The Enclave (60), Park
Atherton Lake (100),the Norgan Ranch Eichlers (64), and Atherwood Court(12). All of these
neighborhoocis utilize Kenfiieid or Horgan Avenue for their primary ingress and egress. Adding
43 units represents an increase of a little over 8%, so it is hard to imagine how that wiff lead to the
"drastic change"and "huge backups"cited in the flyers being distributed in the area.
