In an initiai letter sent in June of 2006,
staff asked for volunteers to participate in a "Park Pal Program". We indicated we
would send monthly emails in exchange for their willingness to report any problems in
our parks. We sent notices to immediate neighbors of 24 of our parks. We currently
have at least one Park Pal for 18 of those parks. The Committee also wants to explore
the use af a "blog" an the City website to improve communications.
• Last but not least, the Committee believes that a physical presence in our most highly
used parks on evenings and weekends is important to ensuring conformance with park
rules and improving the sense of safety in our parks.
