neighborhood stating her primary concern is with the proposed height of the <br />buildings in the transition to the neighborhood across Brewster. After explaining, <br />she suggested that the Brewster side of the block be limited to three stories for <br />the entirety of the half block increasing to five stories on the backside of the block <br />that would be facing Fuller. <br />Mike Sposito, lifetime Redwood City resident and representing Liza and Frank <br />Bizzarro, stated their excitement about the Precise Plan. He stated that he and <br />the Bizzarro's would like a uniform code throughout the Plan area with a variance <br />permit for other than retail. He further stated that visitors should expect the same <br />parking facilities throughout the city and that Main Street should be considered <br />part of the Plan. He further stated the need for downtown housing, and expressed <br />his concern with the Savers store and garbage in the area. <br />Peter Cuschieri complimented the City on the new meters on Broadway but stated <br />that customers are running in and out of the bistro, worried about a possible <br />$25.00 parking ticket. He further stated that customers from Palo Alto, Menlo Park <br />or San Carlos will not come back if they receive a ticket. As a businessperson, <br />not a business owner, he asked that Main Street get rolling. <br />Bill Butler, business owner and member of the community, stated his belief that <br />the decisions made on the Plan will impact whether Redwood City stays the way it <br />is or moving forward. He referred to the Franklin Street project that began 12 year <br />ago and things have been quiet for the last decade. He further stated that <br />because time kills all projects, he would like to see the Plan move forward. <br />Joel Butler, grew up in the area and graduated from Woodside High, and is now a <br />professional engineer. After reviewing the Plan she found it to be well thought out <br />and balanced. It provides guidance and flexibility while fostering affordable <br />housing and continuing the revitalization of downtown. <br />Jim Bigelow, representing the Redwood City /San Mateo County Chamber of <br />Commerce, referred to the Chamber's letter expressing strong support for the <br />Plan. He explained the history of the area dating back to 1947 and stated that it <br />has changed and improved. He stated that the Chamber encourages the Council <br />to adopt the Plan, implement it and make sure the transportation area down by <br />the station is the type where you can walk through a pleasant connection with <br />Caltrain and the bus systems. <br />Tim Fanelli stated that the real wealth is in home businesses because there is no <br />longer job security. He stated that he would like to see the community become a <br />sanctuary for home business operators as well as companies and corporations. <br />M/S Ira /Foust to close the public hearing.
