WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 13052, this Council endorsed the <br /> preservation of Bait Island as open space and a wildlife habitat with appropriate <br /> public access and provision for local community requirements; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, included among those local public requirements is the need <br />to accommodate vehicular passage between adjoining communities and <br />between portions of the City of Redwood City, including the Redwood Shores <br />area of this City; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the transfer of title by POST of South Shores for the above- <br />mentioned purpose could negatively affect the ability of the San Mateo County <br />Transportation Authority or any other agency to plan for and provide a frontage <br />road paralleling State Route 101 which would reduce traffic congestion and also <br />facilitate vehicular passage between San Francisco Peninsula communities and <br />portions of the City of Redwood City; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, in view of the impending transfer of title of South Shores, <br />time is limited within which to address the foregoing issues; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council desires to alert the San Mateo County <br />Transportation Authority to the need of a frontage road connection between the <br />Whipple Avenue State Route 101 interchange in the City of Redwood City and <br /> <br />Skyway Road, located in the City of San Carlos; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE; <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD <br />CITY, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Reso-251 2 <br />F :lSharedlRedwoodlCouncil <br />DES:djk <br />07/22/97 <br /> <br /> <br />
