<br />6.1F <br />Page 1 <br /> <br />REPORT <br /> <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the Ci Mana er <br /> <br />April 23, 2007 <br /> <br />Subject <br />Agreement for Professional Services with The Covello Group, Inc (Covello) to provide <br />Construction Management Services for the Redwood City Recycled Water Project - <br />Phase 1- Seaport Distribution System - Bid Package 5 (BP 5) <br /> <br />Recommendation <br />By motion, approve the proposed agreement with The Covello Group, Inc. of Walnut <br />Creek, California, to provide construction management services for the Redwood City <br />Recycled Water Project - Phase I - Seaport Distribution System - Bid Package 5 for a <br />time and materials cost not to exceed $345,000, and authorize the City Manager to <br />execute same. <br /> <br />Background <br />In December 2005, the City assembled a panel for the purpose of selecting a <br />construction management firm to provide construction management and inspection <br />services for the Redwood City Recycled Water Project - Phase I - Distribution System, <br />and identifying additional qualified firms for future consideration. Covello was highly <br />competitive in the process, and deemed a qualified firm with extensive experience on <br />similar Bay Area projects. <br /> <br />Four pipeline construction projects (Bid Packages 1, 2, 3, and 4) have been on-going <br />for the past two years. These pipelines form the distribution system for delivery of <br />recycled water to existing commercial irrigation and City roadway landscape customers <br />in Redwood Shores. Bid Package 2 is complete. Bid Package 1 is 95% complete. Bid <br />Packages 3 and 4 are under construction and will be completed by the end of this year. <br /> <br />The proposed agreement with Corvello will provide for construction management and <br />inspection services on the recycled water pipeline construction work associated with <br />Bid Package 5. The pipelines constructed as part of Bid Package 5 are the first of q <br />system that will eventually serve industrial and irrigation customers in the Seaport area. <br />The work will create the main transmission piping system along Seaport Boulevard, <br />Hinman Road, Herkner Road, Seaport Court, anp Chesapeake Drive. Over 7,000 feet <br />of 8-inch to 14-inch diameter pipe is scheduled for installation within eight months. The <br />bid process for this work, estimated at $3.5 million, is expected to begin this summer. <br /> <br />A copy of the full agreement is available for review in the City Clerk's office. <br /> <br />PAGE 1 OF 2 <br />
