<br />1. In connection with the adoption of that certain ordinance <br /> <br />entitled "An Ordinance Repealing Article II of Chapter 12 of the Code of <br /> <br />the City of Redwood CitYi and Adding Article II to Chapter 12 of the Code <br /> <br />of the City of Redwood City Relating to Fire Prevention; and Adopting by <br /> <br />Reference the 'Uniform Fire Code, 1982 Edition' as Published by the <br /> <br />International Conference of Buildng Officials and the Western Fire Chiefs <br /> <br />Association," it is hereby expressly found and determined that the <br /> <br />following changes and additions to the aforesaid Uniform Fire Code are <br /> <br />reasonably necessary to provide for a system of fire protection which <br /> <br />will help to control the spread of fire and limit the threat of property <br /> <br />and life from fire within the City. <br /> <br />A. Section 13.301.1 shall be added to said Uniform Fire Code to <br /> <br />require the installation of an approved monitored automatic <br /> <br />sprinkler system in all buildings and structures, notwithstanding <br /> <br />the use or occupancy thereof, where: <br /> <br />(a) The total floor area of which is 7,500 <br />square feet or more, or <br /> <br />(b) Which are 50 feet or more in height as <br />defined in Section 409 of the Uniform <br />Bulding Code, 1982 Edition; or <br /> <br />(c) Which are four (4) stories or more, <br />irrespective of height. <br /> <br />A.l The aforesaid local amendment is necessary in order to <br /> <br />offset the greater threat to life, safety and property represented <br /> <br />by the larger area and greater potential occupancy of such builnings <br /> <br />together with the unique conditions existing in the City of Redwood <br /> <br />City( thereby controlling the fire <br />
