EXHIBIT "A" <br /> CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> LANDSCAPE EQUIPMENT OPERATOR <br /> <br />DEFINITION <br /> <br />To transport and operate a wide range of heavy landscape equipment; to perform a variety o£ <br />semi-skilled and skilled gardening and turf maintenance duties in the development, maintenance <br />and repair of landscaped areas; to provide driver's training to other City employees. <br /> <br />DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS <br /> <br />This is an advanced journey-level class in the Parks, Recreation and Community Services <br />Department. This position is characterized by the requirement to skillfully and safely transport <br />and operate heavy landscape equipment a predominant portion of the time and to provide <br />Commercial Driver's Training as required by various departments. <br /> <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED <br /> <br />General supervision is provided by the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Manager. <br />Exercises no direct supervision of other employees. <br /> <br />Assignments may require technical supervision of lower level personnel. <br /> <br />EXAMPl~ES OF IMPORTANT AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES <br /> <br />1. Operate and transport heavy equipment including truck and trailer combination~ water <br /> truck, back hoe, gang mower, bobcat, trencher, skiploader with bucket and crane truck for <br /> a variety o£1andscape maintenance and repair operations. <br /> <br />2. May direct the work o£ employees operating equipment on a training basis. <br /> <br />3. Identify equipment needs for each assigned project. <br /> <br />4. Assist in the maintenance of large turf areas within the City including mowing, thatching, <br /> plugging, and installing new turf areas as required. <br /> <br />5. Perform watering of non-irrigated landscaped areas <br /> <br />6. Provide Commercial Driver's training to employees o£various departments as required. <br /> <br />7. Respond to inquiries from the general public. <br /> <br /> <br />
