CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br />LANDSCAPE EQUIPMENT OPERATOR (Continued) <br /> <br />OTHER JOB RELATED DUTIES <br /> <br />1. Perform a wide variety of general landscape duties including water, weed, prune, renovate <br /> and fertilize shrubs, trees, flower beds and landscape areas as required. <br /> <br />2. Assist in the maintenance and installation of irrigation systems; set clocks; perform repairs. <br /> <br />3. Perform a wide variety of general grounds and facility maintenance work as required <br /> including raking leaves, cleaning walkqvays, removing debris. <br /> <br />4. Assist with mixing and applying insecticides, herbicides and related work. <br /> <br />5. Perform routine preventive maintenance on mowing equipment and hand and power tools <br /> used in the work. <br /> <br />6. Perform related duties and responsibilities as required. <br /> <br />JOB RELATED QUALIFICATIONS <br /> <br /> Knowledge of: <br /> <br /> Operating characteristics of heavy equipment including back hoe, gang mower, <br /> trencher, skip loader and bob cat. <br /> <br /> Traffic laws, ordinances and rules applicable to truck and heavy equipment operation. <br /> Training and education techniques. <br /> <br /> Basic methods, tools, materials and equipment used in landscape maintenance work. <br /> Safe work practices. <br /> <br /> Basic landscape construction and repair methods. <br /> <br /> General knowledge of plants and tuff, their pests and diseases and methods for control. <br /> Proper and effective use of landscape maintenance tools, equipment and materials. <br /> Ability to: <br /> <br /> Perform park and landscaped area maintenance including planting and cultivating of <br /> lawns, flowers, plants, shrubs and trees. <br /> <br /> Assist in mixing and applying herbicides and pesticides. <br /> <br /> 2 <br /> <br /> <br />
