FALES, JR., CITY <br />~ffiNAGER OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> <br />WHEREAS, James M. (Jim) Fales, Jr., was appointed City <br /> <br />r1anager of the City of Redwood City in June, 1971; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, he has advised this Council that, after having <br /> <br />served in public management for some twenty-five years, he <br /> <br />desires to enter into a new career in the private sector; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Jim Fales has guided the City of Redwood city through <br /> <br />exciting and dynamic societal and economic times; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, his firm leadership has provided this City with <br /> <br />the ability to respond rapidly and effectively to the diverse <br /> <br />needs of its citizens; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Jim's professional expertise is well known and <br /> <br />highly respected both within governmental circles and also amongst <br /> <br />the general populace; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Jim leaves as a legacy to this City tangible achieve- <br /> <br />ments including recommencement of the Redwood Shores planned <br /> <br />community project, participation in the South Bayside System <br /> <br />Authority's \vastewater treatment project, commencement of <br /> <br />redevelopment programs, new and vital cooperation with the Port <br /> <br />of Redwood City, a renewed cooperation and support of downtown <br /> <br />businesses, and many other achievements; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in addition to such tangible achievements, Jim also <br /> <br />has infused the lives of those associated with him in local public <br /> <br />service with his spirit and desire to serve effectively, responsibly, <br /> <br />and professionally; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this Council desires to commend Jim Fales for his <br /> <br />many achievements as City Manager of the City of Redwood city and to <br /> <br />9045 <br />
