<br />PUBLIC NOTIFICATION <br />As previousiy referenced, Attachment 3 of this report provides a summary of the <br />outreach efforts that the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department has <br />made regarding the active parkland standard and in-lieu fee issue. <br />For the April 3, 2007 Planning Commission meeting, notices were published in the <br />Redwood City Daily News, and notices and afollow-up letter were mailed to developers, <br />architects, contractors, the Chamber of Commerce as well as building and realtar <br />associations. A general press release was issued to the focal newspapers on March <br />28, 2007. <br />CONCLUSION <br />The recommendation for the adoption of the negative declaration and an amendment to <br />the General Plan is the first step in City Council's consideration of.a an active parkland <br />standard and in-lieu fee. Ultimately, its adoption will put Redwood City on an equal <br />,playing field with other cities with respect to the amenities that are required of <br />developers to support our existing qua[i#y of life in the City. <br />ALTERNATIVES <br />1. Request additional study in specified areas prior to considering the adoption of <br />the Negative Declaration and Resolution recommending a General Pian <br />Amendment. <br />2. Recommend that City Council should not consider a General Plan Amendment to <br />establish a 3 acre per 1,000 resident active parkland standard. <br />ATTACHMENTS <br />1.
