PUBLIC NOTIFICATION
As previousiy referenced, Attachment 3 of this report provides a summary of the
outreach efforts that the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department has
made regarding the active parkland standard and in-lieu fee issue.
For the April 3, 2007 Planning Commission meeting, notices were published in the
Redwood City Daily News, and notices and afollow-up letter were mailed to developers,
architects, contractors, the Chamber of Commerce as well as building and realtar
associations. A general press release was issued to the focal newspapers on March
28, 2007.
CONCLUSION
The recommendation for the adoption of the negative declaration and an amendment to
the General Plan is the first step in City Council's consideration of.a an active parkland
standard and in-lieu fee. Ultimately, its adoption will put Redwood City on an equal
,playing field with other cities with respect to the amenities that are required of
developers to support our existing qua[i#y of life in the City.
ALTERNATIVES
1. Request additional study in specified areas prior to considering the adoption of
the Negative Declaration and Resolution recommending a General Pian
Amendment.
2. Recommend that City Council should not consider a General Plan Amendment to
establish a 3 acre per 1,000 resident active parkland standard.
ATTACHMENTS
1. Initial Study/Negative Declaration for the Active Parkland Standard and Parkland.
Dedication and ]n-Lieu Fee Ordinances
2.
