City Manager Everett responded that the Police Department will work with Public <br />Information Manager Smith to fulfill notification requirements under state law. <br />M/S Pierce/Ira to approve the entering into a contract with Redflex Traffic Systems <br />for the installation and implementation of an automated red-light photo enforcement <br />system. The motion passed by unanimous voice vote by those present. <br />MINUTE ORDER 07-070 <br />10. MATTERS OF COUNCIL INTEREST - <br />A. Legislation (information only) -This sub-section involves possible discussion of <br />City Position on Proposed Legislation described in the League of California Cities <br />Priority Focus Bulletin No. 14-2007. Council may direct staff to act on positions <br />taken by Council. (Copies of League of California Cities Priority Focus available in <br />City Clerk's Department). <br />B. City Council Member Report of Conference/Meeting Attendance <br />C. Update from Ad hoc Committee on City Manager Recruitment Process <br />Council Member Hartnett, representing the Council's Personnel subcommittee, <br />stated their concerns on being able to engage the community in a meaningful way <br />during the recruitment process. He stated their recommendation for full Council <br />involvement in interviewing and choosing the search firm at the next City Council <br />meeting on May 7, at 5:30 p.m. Once the firm is selected, that firm will then handle <br />discussions with internal and external stakeholders to develop a candidate profile, <br />similar with what was done for the Police Chief. <br />M/S Hartnett/Foust to extend the meeting until 11:45 p.m. The motion passed by a <br />unanimous voice vote by those present. <br />Council Member Howard talked about events held honoring Earth Day. <br />M/S Pierce/Fouut to extend the meeting until 11:47 p.m. The motion passed by a <br />unanimous voice vote. <br />Mayor Pierce gave a reminder that there would be a closed session immediately <br />following the Joint City Council meeting. <br />11. ADJOURNMENT -11:48 p.m. <br />M/S Foust/Hartnett to adjourn the meeting into closed session, and then until the next <br />City Council Meeting of April 30, 2007, in memory of Associate Planner Gary Bonte who <br />died on April 16, 2007 after a brief illness.
