6.1 C <br />The fireworks display will be conducted at the Port of Redwood City, with street closures page 2 <br />and vehicular and vessel traffic control measures to be determined by the Police <br />Department to regulate the orderly flow of vehicle and bast traffic. <br />The City agrees to provide the fo(iowing services and facilities: street sweepers, <br />barricades, bleacher delivery, installation of flags along the parade route, use of a fire <br />hydrant for an antique fire truck demonstration, access to Courthouse Square, access to <br />the parking structure an Marshall Street on July 4~', use of the Hamilton Street parking <br />lot along Winslow Street for vendor parking, closure and parking restrictions as detailed <br />in the PCA parade application and letter along various city streets starting at 2:00 P.M. <br />on Tuesday, July 3, 2007 to 8:00 P.M. until Wednesday, July 4th, 2007. <br />The letter permit contains standard "hold harmless" insurance and course control <br />provisions. A formal insurance certificate will also be provided upon approval of the <br />proposed event plan. <br />ALTERNATIVES <br />1. The City Council could choose not to authorize the execution of the letter permit. <br />The selection of this alternative would end asixty-nine year tradition in Redwood <br />City. <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />Based on expenditures for the 2006 celebration and the event plans for 2007, the total <br />projected cost to the City will be approximately $49,300. Total Police Department <br />overtime costs for traffic and crowd control is projected at $34,000. Pub{ic Works <br />Services Department costs for barricade rental and overtime are projected at $9,800, <br />and Fire Department overtime is projected at $4,000. Parks, Recreation and <br />Community Services Department staff and equipment costs are projected at $1,500. <br />Thirty-one thousand dollars of Police Department overtime costs are budgeted and will <br />be absorbed by the Redevelopment Department's Economic Development Fund.
