ORDINANCE 2242 OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> REPEALING ARTICLE II OF CHAPTER 12 OF THE REDWOOD CITY MUNICIPAL <br /> CODE; ADDING ARTICLE II OF CHAPTER 12 TO THE REDWOOD CITY MUNICIPAL <br /> CODE RELATING TO FIRE PREVENTION; AND ADOPTING BY REFERENCE AND AS <br /> AMENDED THE "UNIFORM FIRE CODE, 2000 EDITION", AS PUBLISHED BY <br /> WESTERN FIRE CHIEFS ASSOCIATION (first reading on November 4, 2002); <br /> <br /> The motion passed by a unanimous roll call vote by those present. <br /> MINUTE ORDER 02-359 <br /> <br /> 10. STAFF REPORTS <br /> <br /> A. Joint Study Session on Downtown Issues Presentation by Michael <br /> Freedman followed by discussion of Block 2 development scenarios and <br /> design issues, as well as discussion of opportunities to link Downtown, the <br /> train station and Sequoia Station. <br /> <br /> Downtown Manager Moeller stated that over the next few weeks, the Council <br /> would be reviewing the proposed amendment to the Disposition and Development <br /> Agreement (DDA) for the Retail-Cinema Project. Also, in the next few weeks, the <br /> Planning Commission will begin reviewing the proposed Downtown Area Plan. <br /> The Council, Planning Commission and Amhitectural Review Committee over the <br /> next few months, in the DDA is approved 1:or the Retail-Cinema project, have' the <br /> opportunity to begin reviewing the plans for the project. <br /> <br /> Recess: 9:07-9:25p.m. <br /> <br /> Michael Freedman of Freedman, Tung & Bottomley, made a presentation <br /> regarding downtown principals in general, what makes a good downtown and <br /> some of the opportunities inherent in the amended proposed DDA, while <br /> incorporating the recent work done with the Downtown Advisory Group. <br /> <br /> Various questions were asked and comments made by the Council, Planning <br /> Commission and Architectural Review Committee members. Mr. Freedman <br /> compiled suggestions and comments to incorporate into consideration.. <br /> <br /> Public Comment: <br /> <br /> Rudy Luca asked what type of retail shops would be located on Broadway. He <br /> stated he likes clothing stores and hardware stores to bring people into the <br /> downtown.
