CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br />IT ANALYST Ell, SENIOR IT ANALYST (Continued) <br /> <br />The desktop IT Analyst should have at least one year of hardware and software <br />experience with Macintosh computers, must have at least three years of <br />hardware and software experience with IBM compatible personal computers, at <br />least one year of experience with networks (such as Windows N'r), and a good <br />working knowledge of Unix. <br /> <br />Senior IT Analyst: This is the journey level IT analyst position is filled through the <br />competitive testing process. The full range of duties can be performed in this job <br />class and the incumbent is expected to function at a higher skill level than the <br />other analysts and exercise more independent direction and judgment. This <br />incumbent can be expected to receive less detailed instructions than the other <br />analysts. Frequently, this position will do some training and supervision of other <br />analysts. This senior position can serve as the acting division manager. <br /> <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED: <br /> <br />IT Analyst I: Immediate supervision is provided by higher level staff progressing <br />to general supervision by the division manager. Exercises no supervision. <br /> <br />IT Analyst I1: Immediate supervision is provided by higher level staff progressing <br />to general supervision by the division manager. Responsibilities will occasionally <br />include supervision of an IT Analyst I. <br /> <br />Senior IT Analyst: Immediate supervision is provided by the division manager. <br />Responsibilities will frequently include supervision of an IT Analyst I or an IT <br />Analyst II. <br /> <br />EXAMPLES OF IMPORTANT AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES: <br /> <br /> 1. perform procedural analysis and develop procedures <br />2. prepare network diagrams <br /> 3. translate problem statements into detailed instructions and solutions <br />4. analyze, design and test software to eliminate errors, increase efficiency <br /> 5. develop complex host software <br /> 6. evaluate and revise software and procedures to promote efficiency <br /> 7. perform computer operations when required <br /> 8. interpret desktop software and installation manuals <br /> 9. adjust initialization files to customize desktop computers for users <br /> <br /> Page 2 <br /> <br /> <br />
