B. Amendment of Water Utility Service Rates and Charges <br />Public Works Superintendent Rosas gave the background on the topic, explaining <br />the methodology involved. (PowerPoint presentation on file.) <br />Utilities Committee Member Vice Mayor Foust summarized that the structure of the <br />fixed costs equals the basic service charge and the more a customer uses, the more <br />the customer pays. She stated that after much analysis with staff, the Utilities <br />Committee proposed the new rate structure. <br />Council comments included that Redwood City is one of the only agencies that <br />provides lifeline rates. The future demand is such that the City is striving to be <br />sustaining. <br />Mayor Pierce opened the public hearing. There was no public comment. <br />M/S Foust/Ira to close the public hearing. The motion passed by a unanimous <br />voice vote by those present with Council Member Howard absent. <br />Recommendation: <br />1.
