Revisions to the City Manager Job Description
Council Member Hartnett, Personnel Subcommittee Chair, stated that it has been
noted that the City Manager job description is out of date and does not accurately
describe the current duties and how the Council would like the position to read. The
job description was reviewed with the input of HR Director Bell and others. Before
Council is the revised job description that the subcommittee has proposed as
adequately and realistically describing the responsibilities of the City Manager. The
new description would need to be adopted prior to the hiring of the City Manager.
Recommendation:
M/S Foust/Aguirre to approve by resolution revisions to the City Manager Job
Description. (903)
RESOLUTION 14797 APPROVING JOB DESCRIPTION FOR THE POSITION OF CITY
MANAGER
The motion passed by a unanimous roll call vote.
B. City Clerk Recruitment Process
Council Member Hartnett, Personnel Subcommittee Chair, stated that the City will
be recruiting for a City Clerk in the near future and that the options of retaining an
outside firm or utilizing the HR Department staff are available. After discussing both
options and obtaining information from HR Director Bell regarding the department's
capability of handling the function and the budget implications of either option, it is
the belief of the Personnel Committee that the HR Department is qualified to
conduct the search to achieve the same level of results expected of an outside
agency and do so at a substantially less cost.
REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING
MINUTES
JULY 23, 2007
PAGE 8
MINUTE BOOK NO. 61
Page No. 455
