6.2A <br /> Page 3 <br /> RESOLUTION NO. <br /> RESOLUTION OF THE COUNClL OF THE CITY OF REDW40D CITY, <br /> AUTHORIZING THE SUBMITTAL OF AN APPLICATION FOR PRIORITY <br /> DEVELOPMENT AREA DESlGNATION UN�ER THE FOCU� <br /> PROGRAM FOR THE DOaIVNTO1dUN PRECISE PLAN AREA <br /> WHEREAS, the Ass�ciation of Bay Area Governments and the Metropolitan <br /> Transportation Commis�icn in cocrdination with the Bay t�rea €�ir Quality Mariag�rre,�� <br /> District and Bay Conservatian and Development Commission {coUectively, the "regianal <br /> agencies") are undertaking a regional planning initiative called FOCUS; and <br /> WHEREAS, FOCUS program goals support a future regional devefapment <br /> pattern that is campact and connected; and <br /> �fi1HEREAS, the regionat agencies seek lac�l gavernment partners to create a <br /> specific and shared cancept of where growth can be accommodated {priority <br /> deveiapment area) and what areas need protection (priority canservatian area) in the <br /> region; a�d <br /> WHEREAS, a priority development area must meet all of the following criteria: <br /> (a) within an existing community, (b} near existing or planned fixed transifi (or served by <br /> comparable bus service) ana (c} is planned, or is planning, for more housing; and <br /> WHEREAS, local governments and congestion management agencies in the <br /> nine county San Francisco Bay Area are eligible to appfy for designation of an area <br /> within their community as a priority development area; and <br /> WHEREAS, the regionaE agencies are committed to securing incentives and <br /> providing technical assistance to designated priority development areas so that positive <br /> change can be achieved in communities working to advance focused growth. <br /> Atty/Reso/Reso. 9 733 � <br /> 080907 <br />
