WHEREAS, the Port Area offers scenic views, open space, significant <br />recreational activities, wildlife habitat, recreational boating and other significant <br />recreational activities, and opportunities for water transportation; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the public benefits derived from the use of the Port Area and <br />the ecological system within the Port Area could be severely diminished or <br />damaged by permitting uncontrolled anchoring or mooring of boats and the <br />obstruction of channels of navigation by abandoned and unseaworthy vessels; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of Redwood City and the Board of Port <br /> Commissioners of the City of Redwood City desire to cooperate in connection <br /> with the enforcement of Tariff Number 7, of the Port of Redwood City within <br /> certain designated areas of the Port Area and under the direction of the Port <br /> Harbor Master; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Redwood City and the Port of Redwood City, with <br /> the assistance of dedicated volunteers, have been working toward the common <br /> goals of beautification and safety of the Port Area by forming the Aqua Terra <br /> Committee; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, in harmony with the spirit of the Aqua Terra Committee, the <br /> City of Redwood City and the Port of Redwood City intend to remove <br /> unseaworthy vessels and abandoned vessels from the Port Area. <br /> <br /> NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT: <br /> <br /> Reso-057 2 <br /> G:~hared\Redwood\Council <br /> 07/23/96 <br /> 09/5/96R <br /> 10/9/96R <br /> 10/23/96R <br /> FXS:rg <br /> <br /> <br />
