7B <br /> ATTACHMENT�age 29 <br /> RESOLUTION NO. <br /> A RESOLUTiON C3�F THE CITY COU�VCiL OF THE CITY �F REDWOQD <br /> CITY AMENDING THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY STRATEGIC <br /> GENERAL PLAN TO ESTABLISH AN ACT[VE COMMUNITY PARK <br /> LAND STANDARD OF THREE (3) ACRES PER THOUSAND <br /> P4PULATION <br /> WHEREAS, on or about September 27, 2004, the Parks and Recreation <br /> Commission presented to the City Council of th� City of Redwood City ("City Counci!") <br /> its Parks, Recreation and Cornmunity Services Department Strategic Plan, a majar <br /> focus of which was increasing the amount of active park land available to residents and <br /> identifying mechanisms that would finance increased park land. <br /> WHEREAS, on Decernber 6, 2005, the City Cauncil directed the Planning <br /> Commission af the City of Redwaod City {"Planning Commission") #o cansider <br /> amending the City of Redwood City Strategic General Plan ("General Plan") to sstablish <br /> an active community parkland standard of three (3) acres per thousand papulation. <br /> WHEREAS, after a duly noticed public hearing on April 3, 2007, the Planning <br /> Commissian adopted and approved the Initial Study/Negative Declaration for the <br /> adoption of an Active Parkland Standard, Parkland Dedication and in-Lieu Fee <br /> Ordinances. <br /> WHEREAS, implementation of the Active Parkland Standard, Parkland <br /> Dedication and 1n-l.ieu Fee Ordinances requires the amendment of the Open Space <br /> Eiement af the General Pfan to include policy language establishing the parkland- <br /> standard. <br /> WHEREAS, on April 3, 2007, pursuant to Section 18,61 of the Redwood Ci#y <br /> Municipal Code, the Planning Commission adopted a resolution o€ intention to amend <br /> the General Plan to establish an active community parkland standard of three (3) acres <br /> per thousand papulation, and recommended that the City Council adopt the proposed <br /> General Plan amendment. <br /> WHEREAS, this Councii, having reviewed the recommendations of the Planning <br /> Commission and having considered the evidence received at the public hearing on <br /> September �0, 2Q07, duly noticed and held for said proposed amendments, finds thaf <br /> the proposed amendments are in the public interes# and consistent with the purposes of <br /> the Redwood City Zoning Ordinance and desires to amend the General Plan in the <br /> manner praposed. <br /> Atty/Reso/Reso.1743 ry <br /> 090507 <br />
