8A <br /> Page 8 <br /> RESO�UTION NO. <br /> RESOLUT[ON COMMITTING TO THE SOUTH BAYSIDE WASTE <br /> MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY (SBWMA} REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL <br /> {RFP} PROCESS AND APPROVING THE SBWMA RECOMMENDED <br /> C4RE SERViCE PACKAGE �FFER TO MANAGE CONTRACTOR <br /> SE�.ECT{ON PR�CESS <br /> 1MHEREAS, Redwood City is a member of the SBWMA, a joint pawers authority <br /> consisting ofi the cities of Belmont, Burlingame, East Palo Alto, Foster City, MenEo Park, <br /> �an Carlos and San Matea, the towns ai Ati-icrto;� di�u H�i�sbo�vugh, the �v�st oay <br /> Sanitary Service, and the County of San Mateo, whnse purposs is waste collection and <br /> recycling services; and <br /> WHEREAS, SBWMA is assisting the joint powers authority in developing and <br /> conducting a coordinated, competitive selection process for coliection services and is <br /> conducting a similar selection process far the operation of its Shoreway Recycling and <br /> Disposal Center(SRDC}; and <br /> VIIHEREAS, Redwood City's operating agreement with Allied Waste for solid <br /> waste, recyclable materials, and organic materials callection services expires in <br /> December 31, 2010; and <br /> WHEREAS, Qn October 26, 2006 the SBWMA Board approved the RFP <br /> recommendations ta the member agencies regarding future services, contract terms, <br /> and competitive proposa! guidelines for the R�P process which are consistent with the <br /> preferred policy directions expressed by the City Council on Sepfiember 2006 ; and <br /> WHEREAS, The core service package for residential collection services <br /> includes: weekly solid waste, singie stream recyclables, and organic materials {plant <br /> materials and food scraps) collection using carts (sizes ranging from 32-96 gallons) and <br /> ATTYlRESO/R�S0.1741 <br /> 082907 <br /> 1 <br />
