Authoriz�, by m�tion, fihe Agency ta execute a lease with Daily Boost LLC doing <br /> business as "Daily Boost" for Lease Area 1 B in Courthouse Square <br /> 2. Authorize, by motian, the City to execute a license with Daily Boost doing business <br /> as "Daiiy Boos#"for License Area 1 B in Courihouse Square <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> In 2005, Redwood City entered into a 55-year Grant of Easement and License <br /> Cooperativ� Agreement with the County of San Mafieo to create Courthouse Square, <br /> reconstruct the Courthouse fa�ade, and preserve the historic County Courthouse Block. <br /> {n 2006, the County amended the Cooperative Agreement to allow the City to install <br /> restraoms within the City's easement area for use by the general public. Placing <br /> restrooms within 300 feet of the Courthouse Square pavilions satisfies the Counfy <br /> Health Department's requirements for food vendors in the concession spaces. In June <br /> 20Q7, #he City consented to the assignment of easemen# to the Agency for the four <br /> concession spaces: Lease Areas 1A, 2A, 1 B, and 2B. <br /> Each fease area consists of an enclosed space measuring approximately 190 square <br /> fee# (13' length by 14' width) as shown in Exhibit A. Vendor applicants will also enter <br /> into a license agreement with the City for an unenclosed 1,360 square feet area <br /> immediately surrounding the concession space for shared outdoor seating. <br /> Staff issued a request for qualifications for fihe concession spaces in February 2007. <br /> r� SEIECtiGii COii'1i'i1tt2� CO�i�i�tlCty of representativ�s from t�e Red�r,r�ad Gity Dou�ntc+wn <br /> Business Group, Redwood City Planning Commissian, City staff, and real estate and <br /> banking professionals reviewed eight applications and recommended six applicants to <br /> provide business plans {#wo applications were incomplete}. Five applicants submitted <br /> business plans, and were infierviewed and ranked by the selection committee. <br /> Staff has been working with the top ranked applicants ta facilitate the coordination af <br /> the County Health Department requirements and configuration of the proposed interior <br /> improvements. On August 16, 2007, city staff received notice that the applicant <br /> requesting the two concession spaces near Hamilton opted not to pursue the lease ar <br /> license. The other appficant, Ruhina Karmali af Daily Boast LLC is ready to sign the <br /> lease and (icense agreements. <br /> The challenges of leasing the pavilions were briefly discussed by the Council's <br /> Downtown Committee at #heir last meeting on August 28.
