He stated
that at a preview meeting at Sequoia Hospital he signed up for notification of further
meetings. One of his major concerns is the installation of two left turn lanes at
Alameda and Edgewood where he currently has some right of way area that would
be impacted. Because he is out of the radius of notification he asked that the City
should notify homeowners which may be affected by right of way acquisition, lane
changes, traffic and other related topics.
Gary Saunders, Business Manager for Plumbers and Fitters Local 467, spoke in
favor of the Sequoia Hospital addition, renovation and parking garage. The project
will provide many jobs for the members and because Sequoia Hospital has
committed to using all union contractors and subcontractors, and the members are
looking forward to doing as many jobs as possible in the next 3 to 3 -1/2 years. He
further stated that an important component is that all of the union members' health
plans include Sequoia Hospital in the networks.
Jocelyn Won, Business Agent for the American Federation of State, County and
Municipal Employees, stated that Sequoia Hospital is one of the fairest employers
she has ever represented members with. She stated that her members believe in
helping the patients to the fullest extent and that this project in improving the
hospital will improve the lives of the patients. She encouraged the Council to pass
the proposal.
JOINT CITY COUNCIL /REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY BOARD MEETING
MINUTES
AUGUST 27, 2007
PAGE 5
MINUTE BOOK NO. 61
Page No. 473
