Although a purchase of equipment
less than or equal to $60,000 is within the City Manager's purchasing authority, staff has previously
purchased vehicles from Towne Ford this year and the purchases from Towne Ford, in the aggregate,
would exceed the City Manager's authority, thus the need for the City Council to approve and authorize
this purchase.
FISCAL IMPACT
The proposed purchase amount from Towne Ford, the lowest bidder, is $50,350. Funds are available in
the FY 2018-19 Equipment Replacement Fund Budget for the purchase of two Ford F150 trucks. This
amount will be subsequently recovered from the operating budget of the Fire Department through vehicle
replacement charges in future years.
ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW
This activity is not a project under California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) as defined in CEQA
Guidelines, section 15378, because it has no potential for resulting in either a direct or reasonably
foreseeable indirect physical change in the environment.
PUBLIC NOTICE
Public Notification was achieved by posting the agenda, with the agenda items being listed, at least 72
hours prior to the meeting.
ALTERNATIVES
The following alternatives are available to the City Council:
1. Choose not to approve the purchase of two new Ford F150 trucks.
2.
