The purpose of the work plan is to
align BCC work with the City Council's Strategic Initiatives and priorities. Work plans are prepared by the
BCC members and presented to the City Council by the BCC Chair and Vice Chair. The Committee's
development of their work plan started when it still existed as the pilot Complete Streets Advisory
Committee. At its April 22 meeting, the City Council established the Transportation Advisory Committee
(TAC) as a standing (ongoing) committee. The Committee discussed the work plan at their June 12, 2018
meeting, created an ad hoc subcommittee to further refine the work plan, and adopted it following
discussion at their March 12, 2019 meeting.
The TAC's mission statement is:
"Increase safe, attractive, sustainable, and comfortable access and independent travel
options for the Redwood City community, present and future, by promoting and utilizing
Complete Streets principles and practices."
The Committee's three focus areas are:
1. Help to create multi -modal transportation options that enable safe, attractive, comfortable, and
independent access and travel for pedestrians, bicyclists, transit users, and motorists of all ages
and abilities.
2. Provide staff with recommendations for pragmatic and specific user solutions.
City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.ore
314
