EXHIBIT A-1 <br />PROPOSED AMENDED JOB DESCRIPTON <br />CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br />PARKING ENFORCEMENT OFFICER I <br />PARKING ENFORCEMENT OFFICER it <br />DEFINITION <br />Under general supervision, patrol assigned areas of the City to enforce parking <br />regulations, ordinances and laws; issue citations in instance of violations; perform traffic <br />control services, enforcement of towing of vehicles found in violation of laws and <br />ordinances, <br />CLASS CHARACTERISTICS <br />Parking Enforcement Officer I: This is the entry level class in the Parking <br />Enforcement Officer series. An incumbent in this class is responsible for enforcement of <br />local ordinances and state laws governing parking of vehicles. Although related to law <br />enforcement, the incumbent in this class does not carry firearms and is not empowered <br />to take violators in custody. Incumbents typically work in an assigned area of the City <br />according to established practices and procedures. The primary, though not exclusive, <br />focus of this position is meter and other parking enforcement in the City's commercial <br />and residential districts. <br />Parking Enforcement Officer II: In addition to duties described above, the incumbent <br />in this class is responsible for enforcement of local ordinances and state laws governing <br />parking of vehicles, the towing of vehicles found in violation of the laws and ordinances, <br />the management of a program for the tracking and investigation of parking complaints, <br />and the placement and removal of various traffic safety and monitoring devices at <br />designated locations. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED <br />Parking Enforcement Officer I <br />Receives direct supervision from the on -duty Police Sergeant. Technical and functional <br />direction provided by Sworn Police Officers, and may receive functional or technical <br />guidance/leadership from a Parking Enforcement Officer II. A Parking Enforcement <br />Officer I has no supervisory role. <br />
