6.0. - Page 105 of 179
MA -50 Needs and Market Analysis Discussion
Are there areas where households with multiple housing problems are concentrated?
(include a definition of "concentration")
An area of "high concentration" is a Census block group with 1.5 times or more of the group's overall
percentage representation in the City. The attached maps indicate that there is not a specific area where
households with multiple housing problems are concentrated. Additional details regarding
disproportionate needs by racial/ethnic group are included in section NA -15, NA -20 and NA -25.
Are there any areas in the jurisdiction where racial or ethnic minorities or low-income
families are concentrated? (include a definition of "concentration")
There is a high concentration of Hispanic households concentrated in census block group 6102.03. The
attached maps indicate that while low income households are primary located in certain census block
groups they do not meet the high concentration definition.
What are the characteristics of the market in these areas/neighborhoods?
Although there is not a high concentration there is a higher population of households in certain block
groups as shown on the attached maps. The market characteristics in these neighborhoods include older
housing stock, a higher number of rental properties and close proximity to transit corridors and
amenities.
Are there any community assets in these areas/neighborhoods?
There are several community assets located in the neighborhoods and census block groups indicated in
the narrative above and the attached maps. They include affordable housing, Fair Oaks Community
Center, Fair Oaks Library, Redwood City Main Library, City Hall.
Are there other strategic opportunities in any of these areas?
These areas are targeted for housing rehabilitation, both single and multifamily.
Consolidated Plan REDWOOD CITY 99
OMB Control No: 2506-0117 (exp. 06/30/2018)
461
