EXHI-BIT "A" to Resolution P-2397
Redwood
ityCafifornii
FnnndcEi8E1
Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department
1400 Roosevelt Ave. Redwood City, CA 94061
(650) 780-7250
Event Plan
2019 4t' of July Fireworks Show
Port of Redwood City
The City of Redwood City is requesting temporary use of the Port of Redwood City facilities to host the
20194 1h of July Fireworks Spectacular. The City is continuing to take the lead this year with: obtaining
major corporate sponsors to pay for a 20 minute high aerial show; providing onsite entertainment for
spectators prior to the show; providing public notification; and managing security, police services, and any
necessary permitting.
Fireworks Display Details:
The display will be conducted by a licensed fireworks vendor, Pyro Spectaculars North, Inc. ("Pyro
Spectaculars") and will be launched from a barge in the middle of the Inner Turning Basin of the Navigation
Channel (location identified on next page). This is different from prior years where the fireworks were
launched from Wharf #4. The barge is loaded at the Port of San Francisco and inspected by the San
Francisco Fire Marshal, and then is towed down to the Port of Redwood City. The Redwood City Fire
Marshal will confirm that the barge location is positioned in a safe location at least 800 feet away from any
spectator area, and has received the necessary permits and paperwork from Pyro Spectaculars.
Pyro Spectaculars has received approval from the US Coast Guard for the "Marine Events Permit".
The barge/tug will arrive at the Port of Redwood City at approximately 8:00pm. The Redwood City Fire
Marshal will conduct inspections at this time. Upon approval, the Show will begin at 9:30pm (target) and
will last for approximately 20 minutes (9:50pm). The Barge/Tug will remain in place for at least 30 minutes
after the Show before heading back to the Port of San Francisco.
The fireworks vendor has obtained all necessary permits in accordance with State law. Copies of these
permits will be provided to the City's Fire Marshal by Pyro Spectaculars.
Provisions for maintaining the Safetv Zone:
The US Coast Guard regulations require a minimum safety zone of 560' away from the launch site. It was
agreed at the planning meeting with City staff, Port staff, and the Pyro Spectaculars representatives that the
safety zone will be delineated at an 800' radius. No watercraft will be permitted to anchor or remain in the
Inner Turning Basin of the channel closer than 800' from the launch barge. The City of Redwood City
