Dragon Productions Theatre Company is a non-profit <br />live theater production company who opened their doors in downtown Redwood City in 2013. As <br />part of their strategic Dragon Theatre is dedicated to programming events that are more accessible <br />to the general public and provide a welcoming community gather space. Dragon Theatre is <br />requesting funding to help underwrite scholarships for a new Redwood City Youth Theatre program. <br />Funding Requested: $15,000. Funding Recommended: $2,500. <br />FC Proiects, INC. FC Projects in partnership with the Redwood City Improvement Association for <br />the Art Kiosk exhibition in the Courthouse Square. Funds received by the Commission will help <br />support participating artists from Redwood City and outreach programs to Redwood City residents <br />and groups. <br />Funding Requested: $10,000. Funding Recommended: $1,500 <br />Fuse Theatre. Fuse Theatre collaborates with partnering organizations to create theatrical <br />experiences that respect and celebrate social awareness and spirit of community through three <br />types of theatre practice- Stage Practice, Applied Theatre Practice and Civic Engagement Practice. <br />They are asking for support from the Commission for their SPARC (Student Peer Advocacy for R <br />Communities) program in partnership with the Boys and Girls Club of the Peninsula. SPARC will <br />offer training and mentorships to selected youth participants to lead social activism with their peers <br />using Devised Theatre, originally created performances. <br />Funding Requested: $5,000. Funding Recommended: $1,400. <br />Latino Community Council of Redwood City. In collaboration with Redwood City Parks, <br />Recreation, and Community Services Department and Redwood City International, The Latino <br />Community Council of Redwood City is seeking funding to help sponsor Fiestas de Patrias, an <br />annual celebration honoring the ethnic heritage of our Latin American residents held on September <br />15th, 2019 on the Courthouse Square in Redwood City. <br />Funding Requested: $3,000 Funding Recommended: $2,000. <br />OYE Latinx Youth Conference. In collaboration with the Redwood City Parks and Arts <br />Foundation, the OYE Conference is a youth -adult partnership with roots in the Latinx Community of <br />Redwood City and North Fair Oaks. The Conference brings together 350 youth, young adults, and <br />parents with community supporters to explore ideas on Latinx culture and identity, obstacles <br />Latinos face, and opportunities for the future though interactive workshops, keynote speakers, <br />performers and community networking. Funds raised through sponsorships support direct <br />conference expenses including the programming, entertainment, food, and facility use. <br />Funding Requested: $1,500 Funding Recommended: $1,000. <br />Peninsula Symphony. The Peninsula Symphony is requesting funds to cover expenses for their <br />"Violins of Hope" performances at Redwood City schools in February 2020. The program is a <br />celebration of heroism, history, hope, healing, and humanity as the instruments were originally <br />owned and played by prisoners in Nazi concentration camps during World War II and have been <br />fully restored over the past twenty years. This instruments will be coming to the Bay Area January <br />2020 -March 2020. <br />Funding Requested: $2,000 Funding Recommended: $1,000. <br />Rise City Church/Bethlehem AD. In its twenty-seventh year, Bethlehem AD is an entertaining <br />and educational re -recreation of "THE evet" that changed the dates of history. The purpose of <br />Bethlehem AD is to present a historically accurate version of the original Christmas story free to <br />Page 2 <br />117 <br />
