61. Fire Department Connections - FDC's to the fire sprinkler / standpipe <br />system shall be located at the fire access side of the building within 50 feet of <br />a Fire Hydrant. [COA] [FIRE] <br />62. Fire Alarm System Required - UL Central Station fully addressable fire <br />alarm systems are required meeting NFPA 72. Provide plans and voltage drop <br />calculations for the design of these systems. Carbon Monoxide and Smoke <br />Detection are required. A remote annunciator shall be located just inside the <br />front entrance to the building. [CCA] [FIRE] <br />63. Address Numbers (Premises Identification) - Indicate on the plans where <br />the premises identification (address) will be located and the size (minimum <br />12") in an illuminated contrasting background facing the street from which <br />the building takes the address CFC 505.[COA] [FIRE] <br />64. Portable Fire Extinguishers Required - Portable fire extinguishers, with a <br />minimum rating of 2A:10BC are required to be permanently installed <br />throughout the building in locations that are within 75 feet of travel from all <br />portions of the building in compliance with NFPA 10 and CFC <br />906.[COA] [FIRE] <br />65. Commercial Kitchen - Sheet A1.01 there are notes that refer to a Model K fire <br />extinguisher required in the kitchen. If a commercial kitchen is going to be in <br />this building that will have any processes that produce grease laden vapors, <br />than a Type 1 Hood and Duct with a UL -300 compliant engineered fire <br />suppression system are required. [CCA] [FIRE] <br />66. Gurney Accommodating Elevators Required - Elevators are required to be <br />provided in all buildings that are four stories or more. Elevators shall be <br />provided for fire department emergency access to all floors. The elevator car <br />shall be of such a size and arrangement to accommodate an ambulance <br />stretcher 24 inches by 84 inches with not less than 6 -inch radius corners, in <br />the horizontal, open position and shall be identified by the international <br />symbol for emergency medical service. The symbol shall not be less than 3 <br />inches high and shall be placed inside on both sides of the hoist -way door <br />frame CBC 3002.4.[COA][FIRE] <br />67. Car Stackers - Plans indicate a number of "car -stackers" proposed to be <br />installed in the garage. The required fire sprinkler system in the garage area <br />containing car -stackers will need to be designed to an "extra hazard group 2" <br />as defined in NFPA Standard 13 with a minimum design area of 2500 square <br />feet. Standard coverage side-wall sprinkler heads shall be placed to protect <br />the lower vehicles in a car -stacker configuration. In addition, one hour rated <br />separation will need to be placed so that the maximum fire area of car - <br />stackers does not exceed 1500 square feet.
