EXHIBIT A <br />PROPOSED CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br />POLICE EVIDENCE AND PROPERTY CLERK <br />Under general supervision, this non -sworn position performs a variety of <br />administrative and technical duties associated with the maintenance and control of <br />police property, evidence, and supplies, protects the integrity of evidence throughout <br />the judicial process, and performs evidence -related procedures. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED <br />Receives general supervision from the Police Evidence and Property Coordinator <br />within the Investigations Division. <br />Technical and functional direction may be provided by Sworn Police Personnel. <br />Exercises no supervision. <br />EXAMPLES OF IMPORTANT AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES <br />1. Book, process, purge, store and maintain police property and evidence. <br />2. Enter evidence and property data into the computer. <br />3. Transport evidence for crime lab examination and court presentation. <br />4. Release property and evidence to legal owners. <br />5. Periodically dispose of weapons and narcotics. <br />6. Prepare needed evidence for release for prosecution purposes. <br />7. Receive and process evidence, document the receipt, maintain the physical <br />integrity and control and the chain of custody, and physically store property <br />and evidence in the designated property and evidence locations. <br />8. Use a variety of computer systems, resource materials, and knowledge of <br />laws to conduct research on property, to identify the disposition on cases, to <br />find the identity and addresses of victims and suspects, and to determine the <br />disposition of evidence in accordance with law. <br />1 <br />ATN/RESO.0068/CC RESO AMENDING THE CITY'S CLASSIFICATION & SALARY PLAN - EXHIBITS A- C RESO.
