Building and Engineering Branch <br />Responsible for providing engineering services to inspect and assess city and privately -owned buildings, <br />structures and property for safety of occupancy. Reviews City building code after incidents resulting in <br />structural damage to determine performance. <br />ELEMENTS INCLUDE: <br />• Inspection for re -occupancy of key City facilities by departments responsible for emergency <br />response and recovery <br />• Providing the engineering support as requested for other EOC Operations Section Branches; i.e. <br />Urban Search and Rescue teams <br />• Coordinating safety assessments of damage to buildings, structures and property within the City <br />• Providing safety assessment information and statistics to the Damage Assessment Unit of the <br />EOC Planning/Intelligence Section <br />• Implementing emergency building regulations as determined from performance of structures <br />• Coordinating investigation of building code performance <br />• Determining the extent of damage to buildings and structures and developing recommendations <br />for building code changes <br />Reports To: <br />Operations Section Chief <br />Supervises: <br />Damage Assessment Unit <br />Public Works Unit <br />Utilities Unit <br />Plans and Reports: <br />• Building Occupancy Status Report <br />Forms and Guides: <br />• POSITION JOB AID <br />• ICS -205 COMMUNICATION LIST <br />• ICS -211 CHECK-IN LIST <br />• ICS -214 ACTIVITY LOG <br />Technology: <br />• LAPTOP <br />• PHONE (DESK OR CELL) <br />Tools: <br />C-56 <br />
