Brief the PIO as needed on policy issues. The PIO will be responsible for reviewing the immediate <br />situation and issues, developing a public information plan, and initiating external messaging. <br />❑ Anticipate resources available for the next 24 hours <br />• City and Contract employees <br />• Equipment <br />• Facilities <br />• Contract services <br />❑ Ensure the development of an initial Action Plan <br />The EOC, through the Planning Section, will develop initial response objectives that are specific, <br />measurable and achievable. The Action Plan will be based on the assessment of the situation. The <br />Policy Group will provide executive oversight to the EOC Director to develop incident objectives. <br />❑ Support risk communications <br />• Ensure that risk communication activities for City employees and the public have been <br />initiated by the PIO. Actions include: <br />• Media releases <br />• Social Media <br />• City websites <br />• Employee email <br />❑ Engage legal counsel as part of the emergency response effort <br />Stay apprised of legal issues as they emerge and consult with counsel as necessary and <br />appropriate. <br />❑ Host and accompany VIPs and government officials on tours of the emergency/disaster <br />Management Section <br />The responsibilities of the Management Section are to effectively implement response and recovery <br />activities and to efficiently manage resources. To meet these responsibilities, the Management Section <br />directs the following overarching objectives: <br />❑ Provide overall management and coordination of the City's emergency response and recovery <br />operations <br />❑ Support the Policy Group <br />❑ Coordinate with appropriate federal, state and other local government agencies, as well as private <br />sector entities and volunteer agencies <br />❑ Establish response priorities and resolve any conflicting demands for resource support <br />❑ Prepare and disseminate emergency public information to inform, alert and warn the public <br />❑ Disseminate damage information and other essential data <br />❑ Ensure that all EOC Sections are aware of and follow documentation procedures to recover all <br />eligible disaster response and recovery costs <br />❑ Review and approve the Action Plan <br />54 <br />
