Special department assignments shall not exceed ninety (90) calendar days, <br />except by mutual agreement between the City and the Union. <br />7.12 Educational Incentive <br />Effective January 1, 1988, the following Educational Incentive shall be considered <br />wages for the purposes of computing overtime, holiday pay, and PERS retirement <br />benefits. <br />All qualifying college credits must have been earned at or accepted by an <br />accredited California school, college or university, in the field of Fire Science or <br />related subjects leading to an A.S. or A.A. Degree in Fire Science. <br />A. Employees who have thirty (30) college credits, twenty-four (24) of which <br />must be in Fire Science and six (6) in Related Electives, including Emergency <br />Medical Training, will receive two and one-half percent (2.5%) additional <br />pay. <br />B. Employees who have sixty (60) college credits, twenty-four (24) of which <br />must be in Fire Science, including Emergency Medical Training, will receive <br />two and one-half percent (2.5%) additional pay for a total of five percent <br />(5%). <br />Official transcripts of study must be received by the Personnel Officer in order <br />for Educational Incentive Pay to be granted for the first payroll period following <br />submission of the transcripts. Study, however, may be verified by a document <br />signed by the teacher of the course pending receipt of an official transcript <br />covering the course. <br />During the term of the agreement, the parties will establish an Education <br />Incentive Committee to discuss potential changes to the Education Incentive <br />benefit. While the Committee process is ongoing and until the parties reach and <br />adopt a new Education Incentive agreement, Education Incentive will be <br />temporarily suspended for employees who are not already receiving Education <br />Incentive as of the date of City Council adoption of this 2019 MOU. Advancement <br />to the second level of Education Incentive (5%) will also be suspended for <br />employees who currently receive the first level of Education Incentive (2.5%). <br />Upon adoption of a new Education Incentive agreement, Education Incentive <br />shall resume for employees under the new terms agreed to by the parties. <br />7.13 Uniform Allowance <br />All classifications represented by the bargaining unit shall be paid an annual <br />uniform allowance of Seven Hundred Forty Dollars ($740.00). Uniform allowance <br />will be paid on a bi-weekly basis in the amount of Twenty-eight Dollars and Fifty <br />Cents ($28.50) per pay period. <br />14 <br />
