(1st) year through the fourth (41) year of service. After completion of the fourth <br />year of service, employees shall accrue vacation at a rate (4.615 hours per pay <br />period) that yields one hundred twenty (120) hours of vacation at the end of <br />each year through the ninth (9th) year of service. After completion of the ninth <br />(9"') year of service, employees shall accrue vacation at a rate (6.154 hours per <br />pay period) that yields one hundred sixty (160) hours of vacation per year <br />through the fourteenth (14th) year of service. After completion of the fourteenth <br />(14th) year of service, employees shall accrue vacation at a rate (6.923 hours per <br />pay period) that yields one hundred eighty (180) hours of vacation per year <br />through the nineteenth (19th) year of service. After completion of the nineteenth <br />(19th) year of service, employees shall accrue vacation at a rate (7.692 hours per <br />pay period) that yields two hundred (200) hours of vacation per year. <br />9.3 All employees assigned to twenty-four (24) hour duty shifts shall be entitled to <br />annual vacation leave as follows: <br />Employees shall accrue vacation at a rate (4.615 hours per pay period) that yields <br />one hundred twenty (120) hours of vacation at the end of each year of service <br />from the first (1s) year through the fourth (4th) year of service. After completion <br />of the fourth (41) year of service, employees shall accrue vacation at a rate <br />(7.385 hours per pay period) that yields one hundred ninety-two (192) hours of <br />vacation at the end of each year through the ninth (91) year of service. After <br />completion of the ninth (91) year of service, employees shall accrue vacation at <br />a rate (8.615 hours per pay period) that yields two hundred twenty-four (224) <br />hours of vacation per year through the fourteenth (14th) year of service. After <br />completion of the fourteenth (141h) year of service, employees shall accrue <br />vacation at a rate (9.692 hours per pay period) that yields two hundred fifty-two <br />(252) hours of vacation per year through the nineteenth (191h) year of service. <br />After completion of the nineteenth (19th) year of service, employees shall accrue <br />vacation at a rate (10.769 hours per pay period) that yields two hundred eighty <br />(280) hours of vacation per year. <br />In the event an employee of the Fire Department regularly assigned to a twenty- <br />four (24) hour duty shift is temporarily assigned by the Fire Chief with the <br />approval of the City Manager to a forty (40) hour workweek, vacation leave for <br />such employee shall continue to be credited at the fifty-six (56) hour rate, <br />provided that vacation leave taken on the forty (40) hour work schedule will be <br />charged to the employee's vacation leave bank at a rate of one and four tenths <br />(1.4) hours for every one hour of vacation leave taken. Such appointments and <br />accrual credit shall not exceed ninety (90) calendar days, except by mutual <br />agreement between the Union and the City. <br />9.4 Vacation leave shall not be accumulated in excess of the amount of vacation <br />hours an employee can accrue in a two (2) year period, based on the employee's <br />current years of City service computed to the 31st of December, except upon <br />written authorization of the Personnel Officer or his/her designee. <br />20 <br />
