SECTION 11— PROBATIONARY PERIOD <br />11.1 New Employees <br />Fire Fighter/Engineers shall serve a probationary period of eighteen (18) months. <br />The probationary period for all employees includes a six (6) months <br />driver/operator training and evaluation program. Upon satisfactory completion <br />of such probationary period, the employee shall be appointed as a regular <br />employee of the City. <br />During the probationary period, Fire Fighter/Engineers shall be required to pass <br />physical and manipulative skills tests, and written examinations on job related <br />information, which will be supplied to the employee. <br />A probationary Fire Fighter/Engineer shall read and discuss his/her monthly <br />performance reports with his/her Company Officer before such reports become <br />part of the employee's employment record. <br />Deputy Fire Marshals and Fire Prevention Officers shall serve a probationary <br />period of twelve (12) months. <br />An employee may be separated from City service at any time during the <br />probationary period without right of appeal or hearing as specified in Section <br />14.3 of this MOU. <br />11.2 Promotional Probation <br />All promotional appointments shall be tentative and subject to a probationary <br />period of twelve (12) months of service from the date of appointment. During <br />the probationary period, an employee may be rejected at any time by the City <br />Manager upon recommendation of the Fire Chief. Any regular employee rejected <br />during the probationary period following a promotional appointment shall be <br />reinstated to the position from which he/she was promoted, unless conditions <br />warrant his/her dismissal. <br />Upon satisfactory completion of such probationary period, the employee shall be <br />appointed to a regular position in that classification. <br />SECTION 12 — STATION BIDDING <br />The bidding procedure for 2014 shall continue during the term of the MOU, unless the <br />parties mutually agree to modify the procedure. <br />23 <br />
