6.K. - Page 2 of 4
3.5 percent, the maximum allowable levy increase. The maximum benefit assessment in FY 2018-19 was
$260,817, and the benefit assessment for FY 2019-20 is $269,946. The proposed total budget for the
district in FY 2019-20 is $306,756. The difference between the total budget in FY 2019-20 and the
allowable assessment is $36,810, or 12 percent of the total budget. This amount will be paid for by the
City's General Fund and is not included in the levy of benefit assessment for the District. This reflects the
public's enjoyment of the public facilities within the district.
Related budgets, assessments, and the City Manager's Report are available for review in the City Clerk's
Office.
FISCAL IMPACT
The Districts' finances are separate from the City's General Fund. However, according to the enabling
document for the District, the City's share of the District's landscape maintenance budget is $36,810, or
12 percent of the District's budget. The City's share of funding is included in the FY 2019-20 Parks,
Recreation and Community Services Department operating budget.
ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW
The City of Redwood City has determined that this action is categorically exempt from the California
Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) under California Code of Regulations, Title 14, Section 15301 because
the assessments, if approved, will fund the repair and maintenance of existing facilities.
PUBLIC NOTICE
Public Notification was achieved by posting the agenda, with the agenda items being listed, at least 72
hours prior to the meeting
ALTERNATIVES
Council may choose not to authorize the tax levy, and consequently, not provide additional landscape
maintenance services to area property owners.
ATTACHMENTS
Attachment A: District Map
Attachment B: Resolution- 2019-2020 Redwood Shores Landscape Maintenance District
REPORT PREPARED BY:
Ahmad Haya, Senior Civil Engineer
ahaya@redwoodcity.org
(650) 780-7397
APPROVED BY:
Steven Turner, Acting Community Development Director
Melissa Stevenson Diaz, City Manager
City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.ore
188
