The introduction of a marked crosswalk, in late 2015, to improve access for people
walking in the area changed the dynamics of this intersection into a more traditional layout, making the
location of the stop sign particularly unusual.
Resident concerns are related to traffic safety and the difficulty of pedestrians crossing Hopkins Avenue
Street at Duane Street. After receiving these concerns, and in conjunction with the traffic calming project,
staff evaluated the intersection conditions according to local and state standards.
City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.ore
201
