This change in traffic control is reflected in the City Council -approved
design drawings for the Hopkins Avenue Traffic Safety Project. No objections to this change were raised
at the project's community meetings that occurred between 2017 and 2019, or when the project was
heard by the City Council on April 23, 2018, January 28, 2019, or April 22, 2019.
As part of the construction of the pilot Hopkins Traffic Safety Project, the City and the contractor notified
residents of upcoming work. The City sent letters to properties fronting the corridor about the contract
award and upcoming work, and the contractor distributed notices with additional details on the
construction activities and schedule. Should parking ever need to be restricted for any construction
activity, "No Parking" signs will be posted at least 48 hours in advance. For the stop sign changes, a
changeable message board will be used to notify drivers and bring extra attention to the change in the
traffic controls when the stop sign is moved and the yield sign is installed.
Construction for the Hopkins Traffic Safety Project is scheduled to start in late July and will last roughly
one month. Modifications to the stop signs at Duane will take less than a day.
City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.ore
202
