6.J. - Page 1 of 15 <br />/<�ik <br />Redwood <br />CitylCallifornia <br />Faunded 1867 <br />Ago/ <br />DATE: August 26, 2019 <br />SUBJECT <br />STAFF REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br />Live Performance Agreement between the City of Redwood City and Zoppe Circus <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />By motion, approve and authorize the City Manager to execute the Live Performance Agreement between <br />the City of Redwood City and Zoppe Circus in an amount not to exceed $161,500. <br />STRATEGIC INITIATIVE <br />Community for All Ages <br />BACKGROUND <br />Since 2008, the City of Redwood City has presented Zoppe Circus. The addition of a family friendly program <br />at the end of October helped to extend the season of events, and provided an incredible draw to Redwood <br />City. The Parks, Recreation and Community Services (PRCS) staff works to host and coordinate the <br />operations for Zoppe Circus. The Circus continues to receive rave reviews, and in 2018 the show sold over <br />13,300 tickets throughout 27 shows. In 2013 the Circus was relocated to Red Morton Park and was <br />extended to three weekends after maxing out ticket sales for two weekends of shows and last year was <br />extended to four weeks after maxing out the ticket sales for three weekends of shows. Reviews from <br />attendees and neighbors were positive with the new location being loved by all for its walkability. <br />ANALYSIS <br />This year, with the location of Red Morton Park, staff would like to continue the circus and enter into a <br />Live Performance Agreement between the City and Zoppe for a not to exceed amount of $161,500.
