6.L.- Page 1of5 <br />y California <br />city Faunded1867 <br />,Q� <br />DATE: August 26, 2019 <br />SUBJECT <br />STAFF REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br />Installation of All -Way Stop Signs at the intersection of Roosevelt Avenue and Fernside Street <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Adopt a resolution approving the installation of all -way stop signs at the intersection of Roosevelt <br />Avenue and Fernside Street. <br />STRATEGIC INITIATIVE <br />Transportation <br />BACKGROUND <br />Residents of Fernside Street expressed concerns about the speed of vehicles that turn from <br />Roosevelt Avenue onto their street. The intersection of Roosevelt Avenue and Fernside Street <br />has stop signs on Fernside Street and is uncontrolled on Roosevelt Avenue. <br />Also, Fernside Street is a primary emergency response route. Emergency vehicles currently stop <br />at Fernside and have to proceed slowly into the intersection to ensure that no conflicting vehicles <br />coming from Roosevelt Avenue. <br />After receiving residents' concerns and coordinating with the Fire Department, staff evaluated <br />the intersection for all -way stop sign according to local and state standards. <br />City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.ore <br />161 <br />
