Presentation (information only) - San Mateo County 2006 Housing Needs Study <br /> <br />Community Development Services Director Ingram introduced the speakers on this <br />item. <br /> <br />Dorkas Cheng-Tozun, HCD Specialist II, San Mateo County Department of <br />Housing, gave a summary report of the big picture long term view of the housing <br />needs in San Mateo County as a result of the 2006 Study. (PowerPoint <br />presentation on file.) <br /> <br />B. Resolution to approve Redwood City's Final Regional Housing Need Allocation <br />(RHNA) for the 2007-2014 General Plan Housing Element planning period. <br /> <br />Planning Manager Ekas gave the presentation and explanation of the staff report. <br />(PowerPoint presentation on file.) <br /> <br />Recommendation <br />M/S Bain/Aguirre to adopt a Resolution confirming participation in the San Mateo <br />County Sub-region for the Regional Housing Needs Allocation (RHNA) Process and <br />acceptance of the assigned housing share in accordance with the Technical <br />Advisory Committee (ATC) and Policy Advisory Committee (PAC) recommendation. <br />See Attachment 1 for Draft Resolution. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION 14814 OF THE CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, STATE OF <br />CALIFORNIA RECOGNIZING THE PARTICIPATION OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br />IN THE SAN MATEO COUNTY SUBREGION FOR THE REGIONAL HOUSING NEEDS <br />ALLOCATION PROCESS AND ACCEPTANCE OF THE ASSIGNED HOUSING SHARE <br />FOR THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> <br />The motion passed by a unanimous roll call vote. <br /> <br />C. Update (information only) - Next steps - affordable housing tools and policies <br /> <br />Housing and Economic Development Manager Webb explained next steps in tools <br />and policies for development in moving forward. (PowerPoint presentation on file.) <br /> <br />Council Members made comments related to the two topics of need versus <br />community, appreciation for the work done, concern that unless incentives are <br />available there will not be County equity, that rental units afford the biggest result, <br />and that community education is required.
