9.A. - Page 25 of 31 <br />ORDINANCE NO. <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD <br />CITY AMENDING CITY CODE CHAPTER 20, ARTICLE VII, DIVISION 11 <br />RELATING TO RESIDENTIAL PERMIT PARKING <br />WHEREAS, the City of Redwood City ("City") established a residential permit <br />parking program in accordance with California Vehicle Code Section 22507, consisting of <br />four residential permit parking areas and codified in City Code Chapter 20, Article VII, <br />Division 11; and <br />WHEREAS, the City wishes to amend Chapter 20, Article VII, Division 11 to <br />change the definition of Director, redefine "temporary permits" as "visitor parking permits," <br />establish two types of visitor parking permits, and, based on neighborhood and <br />community feedback, allow the City Council to set different permit limits and parking <br />restrictions by resolution for particular residential permit parking areas ("Ordinance <br />Amendment"); and <br />WHEREAS, by allowing the City Council to set different permit limits and parking <br />restrictions by resolution for different permit parking areas, the City can tailor its <br />regulations to meet the differing needs of specific neighborhoods experiencing high traffic, <br />parking enforcement issues, and other parking impacts. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY DOES <br />ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. The City Council of the City of Redwood City adopts the Ordinance <br />Amendment by adding the text shown in underline (example) and deleting the text shown <br />in strikeout (example).
