6.A. - Page 114 of 114
d. The percentage of the City's general fund expenditures, and the percentage of the City's
covered payroll, represented by the pension costs described in (a) above (using estimates
of general fund expenditures in future fiscal years).
Response: This recommendation has not yet been implemented, but will be implemented with the
FY 2020-21 Recommended Budget. The City's FY 2019-20 Adopted Budget already contains
historical and future total pension contribution costs, current unfunded liability amounts, and
current funding status percentages. Staff will incorporate the recommended data listed in (a) -(d)
by plan for each of the three preceding fiscal years, and will provide future estimates for the next
ten years, in the FY 2019-20 mid -year budget update that will be presented to the City Council in
February 2020. In addition, the recommended data will be included in the FY 2020-21
Recommended Budget that will be approved by the City Council in June 2020.
Thank you for allowing us to respond to your report and share our perspective.
Respectfully,
Ian Bain, Mayor
cc: Redwood City Council Members
Melissa Stevenson Diaz, City Manager
Kimbra McCarthy, Assistant City Manager
7
118
