The turf that existed on both fields <br />was installed approximately eight years ago and has reached the end of its functional life. The playing <br />fields are used year-round for soccer, baseball, softball, and other field sports by both the local community <br />and visiting tournaments. <br />The City hired Verde Design, Inc., a park and athletic planning consultant, to prepare plans and <br />specifications to renovate the synthetic turf. <br />On December 19, 2018, five bids were received for the 2018 Hoover Field Synthetic Turf Replacement <br />Project. The low base bid of $1,293,289.64 was submitted by Fieldturf USA, Inc., which was approximately <br />25% lower than the engineer's estimate of $1,560,000 - $1,750,000.
