6.D. - Page 1 of 38
/<ik
Redwood
CitylCallifornia
Faunded 1867
Ago/
DATE: October 14, 2019
SUBJECT
STAFF REPORT
To the Honorable Mayor and City Council
From the City Manager
General services agreement with Pump Repair Service Co. for maintenance and repair of water and
recycled water pumps
RECOMMENDATION
By motion, approve and authorize the City Manager to execute a one-year general services agreement
with Pump Repair Service Co. for maintenance and repair of water and recycled water pumps in an
amount not to exceed $145,612.48, including City Manager authority to extend the agreement for two
additional, consecutive two-year terms, for an aggregate not to exceed amount of $728,062.40.
STRATEGIC INITIATIVE
Government Operations
BACKGROUND
The Public Works Services Department (PWS) operates and maintains the City's water and recycled water
infrastructure to ensure consistent and reliable access to water for its customers. Water and recycled
water pumps are vital to this system since they allow for the smooth distribution of water throughout the
City.
Currently, the City operates 35 water and recycled water pumps located in 11 pump stations. These
pumps, motors, and other supporting apparatuses require annual maintenance to identify and repair
damage from everyday wear and tear so that more costly issues do not develop. This preventative
maintenance and any major pump repairs require a contractor with specialized skills beyond the resources
of the Department.
City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.ore
128
