Adopt a resolution approving the Residential Permit Parking Program Policy.
STRATEGIC INITIATIVE
Transportation
BACKGROUND
On -street parking is part of the City's transportation system. Effective on -street parking management
helps create parking availability, making it easier to park, reducing congestion and illegal parking, and
increasing public safety and economic vitality. Redwood City uses a combination of parking meters,
Residential Parking Permits (RPP), time limits, and color curb regulations to manage on -street parking.
Redwood City's Residential Permit Parking (RPP) program, established in 1985, is codified in Chapter 20,
Article 7, Division 11 of the Municipal Code. RPP programs are typically established to discourage long
term parking by people who do not live in the residential neighborhood. RPP programs may also limit the
number of resident vehicles parking on -street.
The City currently has four RPP areas (Attachment A):
• Area A near the south end of Broadway in the Friendly Acres Neighborhood
• Area B near Downtown in the Stambaugh/Heller Neighborhood
City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.ore
193
