01/10/2011 <br /> SECTION 9 - VACATIONS <br /> 9.1 Effective July 1, 2005, all regular full -time employees shall be entitled to <br /> vacation leave from the commencement of their employment with the City. <br /> The times during the calendar year at which an employee shall take vacation <br /> shall be approved by the Fire Chief, or designated representative, with due <br /> regard to the wishes of the employee and particular regard to the need of the <br /> service. All employees shall, on a form provided by the City, indicate their <br /> preference for vacation periods during November and December of each <br /> calendar year. Preference of vacation dates shall be given to employees <br /> according to their length of service in as reasonable a manner as possible. The <br /> Department will post a final vacation schedule by January 1 of each year. <br /> 9.2 All employees, other than those regularly assigned to twenty -four (24) hour <br /> duty shifts, shall be entitled to annual vacation leave as follows: <br /> Employees shall accrue vacation at a rate (3.077) hours per pay period) that <br /> yields eighty (80) hours of vacation at the end of each year of service from the <br /> first year through the fourth year. After completion of the fourth year of <br /> service, employees shall accrue vacation at a rate (4.615 hours per pay period) <br /> that yields one hundred twenty (120) hours of vacation at the end of each year <br /> through the ninth year of service. After completion of the ninth year of service, <br /> employees shall accrue vacation at a rate (6.154 hours per pay period) that <br /> yields one hundred sixty (160) hours of vacation per year through the <br /> fourteenth year of service. After completion of the fourteenth year of service, <br /> employees shall accrue vacation at a rate (6.923 hours per pay period) that <br /> yields one hundred eighty (180) hours of vacation per year through the <br /> nineteenth year of service. After completion of the nineteenth year of service, <br /> employees shall accrue vacation at a rate (7.692 hours per pay period) that <br /> yields two hundred (200) hours of vacation per year. <br /> 9.3 All employees assigned to twenty -four (24) hour duty shifts shall be entitled to <br /> annual vacation leave as follows: <br /> Employees shall accrue vacation at a rate (4.615 hours per pay period) that <br /> yields one hundred twenty (120) hours of vacation at the end of each year of <br /> service from the first year through the fourth year of service. After completion <br /> of the fourth year of service, employees shall accrue vacation at a rate (7.385 <br /> hours per pay period) that yields one hundred ninety -two (192) hours of <br /> vacation at the end of each year through the ninth year of service. After <br /> completion of the ninth year of service, employees shall accrue vacation at a <br /> rate (8.615 hours per pay period) that yields two hundred twenty -four (224) <br /> hours of vacation per year through the fourteenth year of service. After <br /> completion of the fourteenth year of service, employees shall accrue vacation <br /> at a rate (9.692 hours per pay period) that yields two hundred fifty -two (252) <br /> hours of vacation per year through the nineteenth year of service.
