12/12/2016 RESOLUTION NO. 15546 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY RESCINDING RESOLUTION 14645 AND ADOPTING A REVISED POLICY FOR THE PRICING OF RECYCLED WATER WHEREAS, the City of Redwood City ("City") currently provides potable and recycled water services to a variety of customers; and WHEREAS , on May 23 , 2005 , the City Council adopted Resolution No. 14645 , approving a policy for the pricing of recycled water which priced the delivery of recycled water at a lower retail cost than drinking water; and WHEREAS , the practice of delivering recycled water at a lower retail cost than drinking water is wide-spread in the water utility sector to generate timely momentum and interest in the initiative; and WHEREAS , staff's research suggests that a higher discount is warranted for non- irrigation customers who face greater retrofit fees; and WHEREAS, the City wishes to maintain an incentive for recycled water ratepayers while ensuring that the operations and maintenance costs of the Recycled Water System are recovered ; and WHEREAS , the City Council Utilities Committee has discussed pricing for recycled water at a recent meeting and along with staff, recommends the recycled water pricing policy that is attached hereto as Exhibit A and incorporated herein by reference; and WHEREAS , the City now desires to update the pricing of recycled water. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY AS FOLLOWS : 1 . The City Council hereby rescinds Resolution 14645. 2 . The City Council hereby adopts Exhibit "A" the "City of Redwood City Recycled Water Pricing Policy", which is incorporated herein by reference. 3 .
