CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br />RECREATION AND COMMUNITY SERVICES <br />PROGRAM COORDINATOR <br />DEFINITION <br />2/27/2017 <br />To direct, oversee and coordinate staff, operations and services within an assigned City <br />recreation and community services program; to schedule personnel, facilities and <br />equipment in accordance with program requirements; to develop program content and <br />activities; and to perform related work as assigned. The incumbent may be assigned by <br />the Department Head to any of the designated programs within this classification. <br />Program areas include, but are not limited to: After School programs (REACH <br />[Recreation, Enrichment, Academic intervention and enrichment, homework support, <br />Community service and Health and wellness programming], and Sandpiper Youth <br />Club); youth sports; physical education; pre-school; senior services; adults, teen, <br />special needs; day camps; and related program areas. <br />DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS <br />This multi -incumbent classification provides support to the City's diverse range of <br />recreation and community services programs. This classification is distinguished from <br />the Child Care Coordinator/Special Events Coordinator in that the latter classifications <br />have responsibility for serving the City's residents with a diverse range of special events <br />spanning multiple age groups and cultures. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED <br />Direction is provided by a Recreation Supervisor or PRCS Manager. Incumbents may <br />provide functional supervision to hourly/casual employees, regular part-time employees, <br />and/ or volunteers. <br />EXAMPLES OF IMPORTANT AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Duties may include, but are <br />not limited to, the following: <br />1. Direct, oversee and coordinate staff, operations and recreation and community <br />services programs within an assigned area. Program areas include, but are not <br />limited to: After school programs; youth sports; youth physical education; pre- <br />school; senior services; adults, teens, and special needs; day camps; and related <br />areas. <br />2.
