EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
7
VISION FOR THE CORRIDOR
El Camino Real is a lively, attractive, tree-lined boulevard that provides a welcoming introduction to Redwood City and serves
as a source of civic pride for community members. Importantly, moving along and across the Corridor is a safe, efficient, and
pleasant experience for all, whether traveling by foot, bike, bus, or vehicle. Well marked and highly visible crossings allow resi-
dents of surrounding neighborhoods and others to easily access the Corridor itself as well as destinations on either side, such
as the Transit Center, Downtown, and Sequoia High School. Vehicular circulation becomes more efficient, even as accommo-
dations for walking, bicycling and riding transit are introduced. Opportunities to live on the Corridor are available for house-
holds of all income levels. In addition, numerous pockets of restaurants, retail stores, coffee shops, plazas, and open space
invite people to meet their daily needs, spend time, and enjoy El Camino’s vitality and ambiance.
